I used to think shampoo bars were not for me. Boy, was I wrong! It’s all about the ingredients! Read on to see how I made shampoo bars at home.

How to make
- Fill a pot halfway with water and place on medium-high heat
- While the pot warms, cut 2 lbs of soap base into smaller pieces
- Place soap pieces into a heat-safe mixing bowl
- Add 2 teaspoons of Shea butter
- Place mixing bowl on top of the pot of water until melted
- Once melted, remove from the heat and add 4 teaspoons of Castor oil
- Next, add 25 drops of Lavender essential oil, 15 drops of Rosemary essential oil and 10 drops of Peppermint essential oil
- Stir well to combine
- Optional (but recommended): Spray mold with alcohol to prevent air bubbles
- Pour soap mixture into soap mold
- Allow to cool for 24 hours
- Once set, remove from mold and cut down to size
- All done!
Ways to use
- Saturate hair
- Wet shampoo bar
- Rub shampoo bar onto hair to create rich, foamy lather
- Rinse and repeat as needed!
- Need a conditioner to finish the job? Try this one out!
- Allow shampoo bar to dry out between uses
- This recipe made 12 good-sized bars
