Distilled water
- The best option for the cleanest African black soap shampoo possible
- If you don’t have distilled water, filtered water is a close second
- It doesn’t contain any of the nasty minerals found in tap water
Air-tight container
- Nozzle makes for easy application
- I’ve repurposed a sauce bottle I had laying around the kitchen, but if you don’t have one, you can order something similar (linked here)
- Repurposing old bottles is an easy way to be more eco-friendly
How to make
- Boil 1 cup of Distilled water
- Meanwhile, chop or grate 2 tbsp (or 1 oz) of Black African soap into small pieces
- Add bits of soap to a heat-safe air-tight container (I’ve used a jar)
- Shake to combine
- Allow to sit for 15 minutes, or until the soap has completely dissolved
- Once you no longer see soapy bits floating around, it’s ready
- Open up your air-tight container (I’ve used a nozzle applicator bottle) and add a funnel
- Next add 10 drops each of Lavender and Rosemary essential oils
- Followed by 1 tbsp each of Vegetable glycerin and Olive oil
- Finally, add the soap mixture
- Add the nozzle to your air-tight container, make sure it’s closed and shake to combine
- All done!
Ways to use
- Give it a good shake before use
- Apply to wet hair and scalp and work into a lather
- Repeat as needed
- Enjoy!
- Try this deep conditioner once you’re done shampooing
