This DIY Hair Conditioner recipe is so easy to make at home and uses common, all-natural ingredients you may already have laying around the house without the weird thickeners and emulsifying agents.

Coconut water
- Super hydrating for thee hair, also contains essential minerals our body needs
- Can substitute distilled (or filtered) water here
Coconut milk
- Moisturizing for the hair without weighing the hair down
- Can substitute a different plant milk here depending on your preference
Apple cider vinegar
- This acts as the clarifying agent and pH corrects your hair
- Will NOT make your hair smell like vinegar, I promise!
Oat flour
- Oats are super moisturizing
- Also acts as a natural thickener/binder
Tapioca starch
- Also known as Arrowroot starch/powder
- Acts as a thickening agent
Rosemary essential oil
- Stimulates cell renewal and has healing properties
- Nourishes the scalp and promotes hair growth
Peppermint essential oil
- Stimulates and hydrates the scalp
- Has anti-fungal properties and helps prevent hair loss
Lavender essential oil
- Promotes hair growth and a healthy scalp
- Has conditioning properties
Container
- Has pump for easy application
- Stores easily in the shower
How to make
- Add 1/2 cup of coconut water, 3/4 cup of coconut milk, 1.5 tbsp of oat flour and 1.5 tbsp of tapioca starch to a saucepan and place on medium-low heat
- Stir constantly to combine until it thickens, or about 5 minutes
- Allow to cool
- Add to blender and blend until smooth
- Add 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar and 3 drops each of rosemary, peppermint and lavender essential oils
- Lightly blend to combine
- Transfer to your container
- Enjoy!
Notes
- This recipe makes about 1 cup of conditioner
- I made my own oat flour by simply blending rolled oats in a blender until a powdery consistency is reached
- You can substitute distilled (or filtered) water for the coconut water
