Fabric
- I used a non-woven fabric similar to what reusable grocery bags are made of
- There are quite a few types of fabric that are deemed safe by the CDC
Elastic cord
- I ended up sewing this cord in half lengthwise
- Super comfortable around the ears
Pattern
- I used this pattern
- My head is small-ish, so I used the small pattern. If you have a bigger face, use the larger of the two patterns

Needle and matching thread
- I chose a thread color that matched my fabric
- I hand-sewed this mask, but it would be a much zippier job on a sewing machine
Scissors
- Fabric scissors work best here, but any scissors will do

How to make
- Trace pattern four times
- Cut out pieces of fabric
- Erase any trace lines
- Thread your needle and knot the end of the thread
- Hand stitch the long edges of two pieces of the fabric
- Flip over and repeat
- Then, loop the thread to knot once you’re reached the end
- Cut thread and repeat with the other two pieces of fabric
- Snip slits in the fabric perpendicular to the edge you’ve just sewn
- Repeat on other fabrics
- Lay both halves together with stitched-sides facing out
- Stitch along the long edge
- Flip over and continue stitching
- Loop thread to knot once you reach the ends
- Cut thread and repeat on the other long edge
- Snip corners in the center to reduce any bulk
- Turn inside out
- Fold in edges on both sides
- Stitch along the long edge
- Loop thread to knot once you reach the ends
- Repeat on the other side
- Place elastic into the folded edge and stitch in place
- Repeat on the other side
- All done!
